Bare Deodorant

This project was assigned to practice skills in branding. I was tasked with conceptualizing and developing a personal care brand of our choice. To do this, I worked to create a brand story through branding and packaging design, along with retail, advertising, and marketing design.

Bare Deodorant is an antiperspirant deodorant brand that focuses on clinical strength, quality products and sustainable packaging. The product lineup includes a refillable case and four scent options of refill antiperspirant deodorant sticks. The scent options are linen + eucalyptus, lavender + vanilla, cedarwood + citrus, and bergamot + sage. A consumer would purchase the aluminum refillable case and then purchase the refill sticks, simply pushing the refill in to the case and then twisting up for more product.

In analyzing initial research into the current deodorant market, it became apparent that there currently lacks a deodorant brand that is both a clinical strength antiperspirant and focuses on sustainable packaging. Bare provides consumers with an ability to choose a sustainable option without compromising product strength.

Moodboard + Exploration

When beginning to move from the research phase to the design phase, I created a moodboard as well as naming ideations and logo sketches once I had decided on a name. I knew I wanted the branding and packaging to be minimalistic and simplistic, to align with existing sustainable packaging trends. I also wanted to ensure that, while it came across that it was a sustainable, plastic-free brand, it was also clear that it was a clinical strength product. When ideating names for the brand, I initially thought of words like raw and evolve, but felt that these sounded too natural and didn’t represent the strength of the product. I eventually decided on Bare because it represents the natural aspects of the brand without sounding too natural.
